We work better when we work together

  1. Parents
  2. Online Safety

Online Safety

Our staff teach online safety extensively at school to help our children explore within safe boundaries, communicate well and leave a positive footprint in the virtual world.  Due to the firewalls and restrictions school has in place we are able to safeguard their online learning.  However the vast majority of children’s digital footprint will take place out of school. It is therefore the responsibility of parents to keep children safe online at home.

In an ever growing digital world, children can spend a long time online these days. Right from a very early age they may have access to their parents’ smart phones and tablets, and quickly learn how to navigate things. So many difficulties our children face in staying safe in an ever-changing digital age is that within a few clicks it is possible for them to go anywhere, share anything and meet anyone. Children are reminded regularly in school that they are too young for social media accounts such as Snapchat, Instagram, YouTube and WhatsApp (13 minimum age).

We are proud to support for the vital national movement, Smartphone Free Childhood. This campaign is dedicated to uniting families who believe that childhood is too short to be spent scrolling, providing resources and solidarity to parents choosing to delay the introduction of smartphones and social media for their children. To underscore the importance of this mission for the well-being and development of our students, all schools across The Stour Federation are ambassadors for the Smartphone Free Childhood campaign. We are committed to fostering a supportive environment that encourages real-world interaction, protects mental health, and champions a childhood rich in exploration and genuine connection. We encourage all parents and guardians to explore the campaign's resources on their website and join us in protecting our children's precious early years.
