Wilmcote C of E Primary School

We work better when we work together

  1. Christian Ethos
  2. Christian Mission

Our Christian Mission

We are called to learn, grow, succeed together, and use our abilities to help others and make a positive difference in the world, guided by love and Christian values. It's all about helping each child discover their own special "fishing net" and how to use it for good!

Mission 1: Nurturing Every Child's Potential
We aim to help children understand their strengths, abilities, and talents, connecting to Jesus' promise, "I will make you". As an inclusive Christian school, Wilmcote Church of England Primary School believes everyone is valued as a child of God (Imago Dei). This means every person should be loved, valued, celebrated, and represented. Our goal is to provide a safe, Christian learning environment that enables our children to develop to their full potential, ensuring children feel secure, valued, respected and understood. We also strive to inspire all to have a positive self-image and increasing confidence. We believe God helps us become the best version of ourselves, like a gardener nurturing a seed. This encourages children to step into their unique identity, use their talents, and be fearless.

Mission 2: Becoming Good Citizens
We want our children to become good citizens who have a positive impact on our wider community and society. This aligns perfectly with the idea of being "fishers of men" – going out and making a tangible difference in the world around us, sharing kindness and helping others. We actively promote an ethos that encourages children to be an active and caring member of their community. This is rooted in the concept of Incarnation, which means getting alongside others and walking with them in the hard times as well as the good.

Mission 3: Christian Values as a Guide
Our daily actions are built upon our core Christian Values - Friendship, Kindness, Respect, and Trust. These values are the "tools" that enable us to become "fishers of men" – they guide us in how to treat others, how to share God's love, and how to approach difficult conversations within a framework of love. A Christian community, such as our school, is recognised by the way it loves.

Mission 4: “Living Life in All Its Fullness": Both the Diocese of Coventry and The Stour Federation share a broader vision to help children flourish and "live life in all its fullness" (John 10:10). This is precisely what being a "fisher of men" is about – it's not just about existing, but about living a life rich with meaning, purpose, and contribution, using all the gifts God gave us. We strive to deliver memorable learning experiences which excite and engage and to promote an ethos that encourages all children to take responsibility for their own learning. We aim to foster lifelong learners with a respect for the beauty and diversity of the natural world. This connects to God's plan for all creation to flourish and how the school community can be "Good News" for others by taking action that leads to inclusion and equity.
